2016 APAGE & TAMIG Annual Congress

17th Asia-Pacific Association for Gynecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy Annual Congress in Conjunction with 2016 Taiwan Association for Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Annual Meeting

4-6 Nov 2016, Taipei

Course Description

One of the key challenges of minimally invasive surgery is tackling large specimen retrieval. Over the years, various morcellation techniques have been developed with and without the use of a retrieval bag. In light of recent concerns regarding laparoscopic morcellation causing dissemination of cancer, this course aims to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to perform safe specimen retrieval.

This course combines a series of lectures and case based discussions addressing best practices surrounding specimen retrieval. Delegates will be able to gain practical tips from world known experts. The course will also feature a dry lab session to allow delegates to experience first-hand the latest in contained morcellation.

This course is suitable for clinicians with basic to advanced laparoscopic skills.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, delegates should be able to:
  • Understand the concerns of dissemination of unexpected malignancy
  • Perform appropriate pre-operative evaluation to determine the risk of malignancy
  • Appreciate various techniques of safe specimen retrieval
  • Obtain informed consent
  • Experience hands-on the latest in contained morcellation
